ABOUT ABOUT

Fennig’s All-Star String Band was formed in 1970 by Bill Spence and his hammered dulcimer, a relatively unknown instrument at the time. They released their first album in 1973 titled “The Hammered Dulcimer”. It became an instant hit after it’s “recording of special merit” review in the national magazine, Stereo Review. Three more albums followed, and to date over 100,000 Fennig’s All-Stars recordings have been sold worldwide. These lively “feel good” recordings captured the fancy of a new generation of musicians, and became the source of inspiration for a new generation of hammered dulcimer players and other string band musicians here and abroad. Since 1975, the All- Stars are Bill Spence (hammered dulcimer, vocals), George Wilson (fiddle, banjo, vocals), and Toby Stover (piano, vocals). The amount of talent possessed by these three virtuoso musicians is astounding and has only been enhanced by the number of years each of them has been making music.
